How much does an online shop cost in Poland in 2026? Fees and hidden costs

“How much does an online shop cost?” has three answers. What you pay to get started. What you pay every month or every year. And what you leave behind on every single order.

Most comparisons only look at the second number, the subscription. In a small shop, though, it’s often transaction fees and shipping that decide whether a sale is worth making.

This guide is written for businesses selling to customers in Poland, including foreign-owned companies and sole traders who run their business here. Prices come from the platforms’ own price lists, checked on 18 October 2026, mostly in Polish złoty (PLN). Price lists change, so check the current ones before you decide.

The three parts of the bill

  • Getting started. Design, setup, shop terms, product photos and sometimes an integrator.
  • Fixed costs. A subscription or hosting, a domain, paid plugins and apps, accounting.
  • Cost per order. The payment gateway’s fee, shipping, packaging and, on some platforms, a platform commission.

A shop on a PLN 29 plan and a shop on a PLN 300 plan can end up costing about the same if the second one doesn’t take an extra percentage of every sale. That’s why it pays to count the whole thing.

Hosted shops on a subscription: Shoper, Shopify, IdoSell, Sky-Shop

A hosted (SaaS) platform includes hosting, updates and security in the price. You pay monthly or a year in advance.

Platform Cheapest plan (October 2026) Watch out for
Shoper Standard: PLN 29 net/month on a first-year promotion, list price PLN 299 net/month The list price applies once the promotion ends; payment method fees are extra
Shopify Basic: PLN 79/month billed yearly, PLN 109 billed monthly 2% of sales on Basic if you don’t use Shopify Payments
IdoSell From PLN 29 net/month Check the limits and fees of the plan you choose
Sky-Shop Start Up: PLN 19 net/month, Basic: PLN 99 net/month (both billed annually; PLN 129 and PLN 259 net billed monthly) Orders above the plan’s limit are charged separately

Introductory offers are the norm here. Before you compare platforms, look at the price for year two, because that’s the one you’ll live with.

Shopify deserves a separate note. It’s the strongest choice of the four if you sell abroad, and Shopify Payments is available in Poland. The 2% fee on Basic only applies when you take payments through another provider.

A shop on your own engine: WooCommerce and PrestaShop

WooCommerce is a free WordPress plugin. It takes no cut of your sales itself, but it needs hosting, a theme and usually a few paid extensions. According to WooCommerce’s own page on costs, hosting for most stores costs between $25 and $350 a month, and paid extensions cost $29 to $299 a year each. Polish payments and parcel lockers aren’t among them: PayU, Przelewy24, Tpay and InPost all offer free official plugins.

PrestaShop is also free as software. You can run it on your own server or choose PrestaShop Hosted for €29 net a month, or €24 a month billed annually.

The biggest cost of both isn’t on any price list. It’s time. Someone has to update WordPress, the plugins and the modules: you, or a developer you pay. And a conflict between two plugins can take your checkout down in the middle of a sale.

A shop built by an agency

An agency usually prices design and build separately from the platform. In its article on e-commerce costs, Fakturownia gives rough ranges of PLN 5,000–20,000 for a mid-range shop and PLN 20,000–50,000 and up for one built from scratch. These figures come from a vendor’s blog rather than a market survey, but they show the order of magnitude.

The cost of every order

Payment gateway fees. PayU, Przelewy24 and Tpay charge a fee per transaction under their own price lists. PayU also charges a one-time fee when you register. Rates depend on the payment method and your turnover, so work them out on your own numbers using the PayU price list or the other providers’ offers. We explain how each of them works in our guide to online payments in Poland.

Shipping. Parcel lockers, couriers, cash on delivery. A small shop usually pays the carrier’s standard rates, and a discounted contract comes with volume.

Platform commission. Shopify Basic takes 2% of sales if you don’t use Shopify Payments. Shoper, WooCommerce and PrestaShop take no commission themselves.

Formal costs that show up after launch

Cash registers. Mail-order sales are exempt from having a till (kasa fiskalna) if you receive the full payment into your bank account via a bank or the post office, and your records show who paid and for what. That rule is item 41 of the annex to the regulation on exemptions from cash registers. A separate exemption covers businesses whose sales to private customers stayed at or below PLN 20,000 in the previous year (pro rata for businesses that have just started). Both run until the end of 2027 and neither covers some goods, including electronics, phones, car parts, perfume and alcohol. Courier cash on delivery is a grey area, so ask your accountant.

Invoices and KSeF. Since 1 April 2026 most businesses issue invoices through KSeF, the national e-invoicing system; the largest taxpayers started on 1 February. Until the end of 2026, businesses whose invoiced sales stay at or below PLN 10,000 gross a month are exempt (ksef.podatki.gov.pl). Invoices to consumers don’t have to go through KSeF and don’t count towards that limit. Invoicing software connected to the shop saves you retyping orders.

Shop terms and privacy policy. A template, a generator or a lawyer. We list what they must contain in our legal checklist for online shops in Poland.

The bill for the first two years

The table shows platform fees only, without gateway fees and shipping, which are similar everywhere. Prices from the price lists as of 18 October 2026.

Option Year 1 Year 2
Webomat, shop package with 1 version No subscription, one-off payment: PLN 499 net ($129) for the website, shop and first year of hosting PLN 299 net ($99) for hosting and maintenance of the website with its shop
Shoper Standard, billed yearly PLN 339 net on promotion Yearly fee after the first year under Shoper’s price list (list price PLN 299 net/month)
Shopify Basic, billed yearly PLN 948 (12 × PLN 79), plus 2% of sales without Shopify Payments PLN 948, plus 2% of sales without Shopify Payments
WooCommerce Hosting, theme, extensions Hosting, licence renewals

Unlike the monthly plans of Shoper, Shopify or IdoSell, Webomat has no subscription: you pay once for the package, then only yearly hosting. Over two years that’s PLN 798 net (PLN 499 + 299) for the website and shop, and PLN 299 net for each year after that. For comparison, the Shopify Basic subscription alone is PLN 948 a year, and Shoper Standard costs PLN 299 net a month at list price once the promotion ends.

The table doesn’t tell you which is better. Shoper and Shopify have hundreds of integrations that Webomat doesn’t. What it does show is how much the bill changes after year one, and how much depends on whether the introductory offer ends.

How to choose sensibly

  1. Count the costs over two years, not the first month.
  2. Add the fees: the gateway’s and, where relevant, the platform’s, on your expected turnover.
  3. Decide who will do updates and fixes. Your time has a price too.
  4. Match the tool to your scale. A shop with 30 products doesn’t need a system built for 30,000.

If you’re weighing up specific platforms, our comparison Shoper vs WooCommerce vs Shopify vs PrestaShop goes through who each one suits.

If you sell a few, a few dozen or a few hundred products to customers in Poland and want your business website and shop in one place, see how the Webomat shop works. You pay once, no subscription. The package is a one-off payment; after that you only pay for hosting and maintenance of the website with its shop: the first year is included, then PLN 299 net ($99) a year. Webomat takes no commission on sales, and payments run through Polish gateways (PayU, Przelewy24, Tpay) in złoty. Full prices are on the shop pricing page.
