About the Trust
The kingfisher is a small bird in turquoise and rusty orange. It lives along Sheffield’s rivers, but it’s easy to miss. City nature is a lot like that — which is why we teach children how to look.

Mission
Nature on the doorstep, not in a textbook
We teach children about nature right where it lives: by the River Don, in the city’s woods and around its reservoirs.
We run outdoor sessions for Years 1–6, a Saturday club for young birdwatchers, nature holiday clubs in the half-term and summer holidays, and family activities — like putting up swift boxes on local estates.
We’re a registered charity, funded by donations, Gift Aid, grants and holiday club fees. Because we work with children, we have a written safeguarding policy.
- Curiosity over cramming
- Respect for nature and for children
- Clarity and openness with our donors
