Working with us
Before we start work on your matter, you’ll know what the initial meeting costs, how our fees are set and which costs may be added on top. Everything is confirmed in writing.
§ 1Initial meeting
The initial meeting lasts up to an hour.
At the meeting we get to know your situation, look through your documents and explain the options available. At the end we tell you whether we can take the matter on and how we would work together.
- Length
- up to 60 minutes
- Fee
- £240 incl. VAT
- Credit
- credited against our fees if we take on your matter
§ 2What to bring
What to bring to the meeting.
The more documents we can see, the more specific we can be about your matter. You don’t need to sort them first — we’ll do that together.
- letters from a court, tribunal or public body (claim form, demand, summons)
- contracts, variations and terms that the matter concerns
- correspondence — letters, emails, messages
- photo ID
- a note of the key dates and deadlines
- a list of the questions you want to ask
§ 3Fees
We agree our fees in writing, before any work begins.
After the initial meeting we suggest one of two ways of charging, depending on the type of matter. The terms are set out in a client care letter before we start.
Court fees and disbursements (for example travel, translation or expert reports) are not part of our fees and are charged separately.
§ 4Remote advice
Advice by video call.
If you can’t come into the office, we can talk by video call. We arrange a time, send you a link and, where useful, ask you to send scans of the key documents beforehand.
- Format
- video call
- Fee
- £240 incl. VAT

§ 5Confidentiality
Client confidentiality.
Everything we learn in the course of advising you is kept confidential. The duty applies to the solicitors and the trainee at the firm, does not end when the matter is closed, and covers the initial meeting too — even if we don’t take the matter on.
